Mari0 is a fan made platformer based around the original NES game. Take on the classic Mario game with a portal twist, including online multiplayer and level creation.

Mari0 was developed in 2012 as a playful combination of the Mario and Portal games by Maurice Guégan of stabyourself.net. Complete recreations of the original Mario game are included in the game, along with additional playable characters, weaponry, and control schemes. An elementary 2D version of the portal cannon may be used to make additional openings around the traditional levels in addition to the standard jumping and mushroom principles. Included are tools for creating levels and online cooperative gaming. The game gained popularity and became a cult classic because of its unique gameplay and multiplayer options, making it one of the first games to be widely accepted by YouTubers. Mari0 is still a free open-source game that’s best played with friends and offers a humorous gaming experience.
